Ric Lee presents at the National Employment Lawyers Association national convention
Ric Lee, operating partner of Imaginary Landscape and a leading
authority on association Web sites, presented at this year's annual
convention of the National Employment Lawyers Association in Vail,
Colo. last week. He presented to the special Affiliate Leadership
Workshop.
The presentation focused on the role of a national association in the Web strategies of affiliate members.
"By licensing back-end Web-based member services to affiliates, the national association can create an additional revenue stream," said Ric Lee. "As a result, the affiliates can benefit by having a Web site that far exceeds what they could do on their own, while still retaining a local look and feel."
A simple example of this is membership dues. The national association creates the functionality for member dues, both new and renewal, and the real-time transaction processing behind it. Once established, the national association can deploy it out to individual affiliate associations, without having to reinvent and pay for the process each time. Each affiliate can retain its unique design and "hook" into the services as needed.
