CHICAGO - Imaginary Landscape is pleased to announce the launch of The American Society of Breast Surgeons’ new website  This resource site was created by breast surgeons to engage, educate, and empower anyone looking for reliable information about breast health care.

Imaginary Landscape developed the website using open source technology, including the Django web development platform. This allowed for the fast and secure development of web-based applications while supporting and delivering the site. It was created with the user in mind, and emphasis was placed on effortless usability during the design integration and user interface process.

“When it comes to making decisions about your health, we know our patients want to be well informed,” states Society President Deanna Attai, MD.  “As physicians, we see that information found on the web is having a major influence on the decisions patients are making regarding their breast health care.  As a result, we wanted to provide a patient-centered resource that they can not only easily understand, but also trust, and Imaginary helped us implement that vision.”

“Imaginary Landscape understood that ease of use and accessibility was an important priority and they worked with us to develop a site that our users would find intuitive and would be able to accommodate future enhancements," says Margaret Schlosnagle, IT specialist for the Society.

The website is a rich source of articles and news, covering topics such as benign breast issues, breast imaging and diagnosis, risk prevention and genetics, and breast cancer and surgery. When creating the site, it was important that it provided users with information relevant to their search, as well as possible related articles.  To address this need, Imaginary created their content management system (CMS) and a custom indexing tool to categorize topics and related articles.

“The Society wanted to share resources that would allow patients to be better advocates for themselves,” said Brian Moloney, president and CEO of Imaginary Landscape. “Understanding that patients may not always know what information they are looking for, we constructed a custom CMS with features that present related content on each page, allowing the user to explore content that is most relevant to them.” is a program of The American Society of Breast Surgeons, with more than three-thousand members in the United States and thirty-five countries throughout the world, and The American Society of Breast Surgeons Foundation.
